Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Health Infrastructure Grows: 850-Bed Hospital in Moshi

Pune, 31st October 2023: In a significant move towards enhancing healthcare accessibility for the villages within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) limits, a state-of-the-art hospital is set to grace Moshi. The Municipal Corporation has greenlit the construction of an eight-story hospital on a 15-acre plot of land, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 450 crores.

The hospital aims to alleviate the strain on the YCM Hospital, as the newly included villages, witnessing substantial urbanization since 1997, contribute to the rising demand for medical services. The areas of Chikhli, Moshi, and Charholi have seen a surge in large housing societies, reflecting the accelerated pace of urban development. Residents from Khed, Chakan, Junnar, Manchar, and Ambegaon in the Pune district often seek medical treatment in the city, leading to an increased patient influx at the 750-bed YCM Hospital run by the Municipal Corporation.

The YCM Hospital, currently under pressure due to exceeding patient capacity, faces challenges such as long waiting times and traffic congestion. The proposed 850-bed hospital in Moshi aims to address these issues, providing much-needed relief to the overburdened healthcare system.

The tender process for the hospital witnessed active participation from six contractors. Following evaluations, three were disqualified, leaving three qualified contenders. Among them, two contractors submitted bids with a 15 to 20 percent increased rate, while one contractor proposed a 9 percent increased rate. The latter is likely to be awarded the contract, signaling a positive step towards the hospital’s realization.

The upcoming facility is slated to offer a wide array of medical services, including outpatient, ear-nose-throat, and eye departments. State-of-the-art diagnostic tools such as CT scan and MRI will be available. The hospital will house dedicated units for surgery, intensive care, pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, orthopedics, gynecology, dermatology, and psychiatry. Additionally, departments for x-ray, sonography, pediatrics, psychiatry, dermatology, gynecology, respiratory tract, burn care, dialysis, pathology, a blood bank, and a spacious 180-seater canteen will cater to diverse medical needs.
