Daund, 21st June 2023: A tragic incident has shaken the town of Daund as a doctor reportedly took his own life after committing a heinous crime by killing his wife and two children. The incident came to light yesterday, leaving the community in shock and disbelief.
The victims have been identified as Dr. Atul Shivaji Diwekar (42), his wife Pallavi Atul Diwekar (39), and their two children, Adivat Atul Diwekar (9) and Vedanthi Atul Diwekar (6). The Diwekar family resided in Chaitrali Park Society in the Warvand area of Daund. Dr. Diwekar was a veterinary specialist, and his wife, Pallavi, worked as a teacher in a local school.
The tragic events unfolded on Tuesday when the door of the Diwekar family’s residence remained closed throughout the day, raising concerns among their neighbors. Worried about the unusual silence, the neighbors attempted to contact the family but received no response. Growing increasingly alarmed, they made the difficult decision to open the door, only to be confronted with a devastating and heart-wrenching scene.
Inside the house, they discovered Dr. Atul’s lifeless body, hanging in an apparent suicide, while Pallavi’s lifeless body lay nearby, indicating that she had been strangled to death using a rope. The two young children, Adivat and Vedanthi, were also found lifeless, adding to the incomprehensible tragedy that unfolded within the household.
The local authorities, including the Pune rural police, were immediately alerted and arrived at the scene to initiate a thorough investigation into the matter.
