Pune Police Conduct Successful Raid on Shops in Camp Area, Seize Tobacco E-Cigarettes Worth Rs 2.32 Lakhs

Camp, 21st June 2023: In a targeted operation, the Social Security Cell of the Pune Crime Branch conducted raids on three shops in the Camp area of Pune suspected of selling tobacco-based e-cigarettes. The successful operation led to the seizure of tobacco e-cigarettes with an estimated value of Rs 2.32 lakhs.

Based on credible information, Senior Police Inspector Bharat Jadhav led a team that carried out the raids on Tuesday, the 20th of June. The shops, located on MG Road, were the focal points of the operation, aimed at curbing the illegal sale of tobacco-based e-cigarettes.

During the raid, the police confiscated a significant quantity of tobacco e-cigarettes, which were subsequently handed over to the Lashkar police station for further investigation. Additionally, three individuals involved in the sale of these prohibited products were apprehended by the police, highlighting their commitment to upholding the law.

The Crime Branch investigation team, consisting of Assistant Police Inspector Aniket Pote, Assistant Inspector Rajesh Malegave, and dedicated police personnel including Baba Karpe, Ajay Rane, Tushar Bhivarkar, Imran Nadaf, Amey Rasal, Reshma Kank, Kishore Bhujbal, and Omkar Kumbar, executed the operation with precision and professionalism.

The raid on the shops selling tobacco e-cigarettes demonstrates the Pune Police’s determination to tackle the illegal trade of such products. Tobacco-based e-cigarettes pose health risks and are prohibited under the law. By taking swift action and confiscating these harmful products, the police have taken a significant step towards safeguarding public health and preventing the sale of illegal substances.
