Gang Causes Havoc in Taljai Area, Vandalizing 26 Vehicles; Police Arrest Notorious Criminal

Pune: A gang of criminals wreaked havoc in the Taljai area of Sahakar Nagar police station, vandalizing 26 vehicles parked on the roadside. Armed with sickles, sticks, and stones, the gang went on a rampage in Vanshiv Vasti in Taljai Vasahat at 3:30 am.

Following the incident, the Warje Malwadi police swiftly apprehended the gang leader, Papulya alias Digvijay Waghmare (20), a resident of Ram Nagar, Warje Malwadi.

According to the police, the gang had arrived in Vanshiv Vasti at 3:30 am in search of a suspect in an attempted murder case. However, unable to locate their target, they resorted to vandalizing the parked vehicles using sickles, iron rods, sticks, and by pelting stones, causing damage to the vehicles’ windows.

The incident has instilled fear in the area, as the gang members also targeted autos, two-wheelers, cars, and even some houses with stone throwing. Upon receiving information, the police swiftly arrived at the scene. The suspects have been identified and are currently being traced.

Senior Police Inspector Savalaram Salgaonkar of Sahakar Nagar police station stated that the process of filing an FIR is underway, and an assessment of the damaged vehicles is being conducted.

The Warje Malwadi police successfully apprehended the mastermind behind the violence, Papulya Waghmare. The arrest was made by a team comprising PSI Narendra Mundhe, PSI Rameshwar Parve, Police Naik Pradip Shelar, Amol Raut, Hanmant Masal, Police Constable Bunty More, Shrikant Bhangre, and Vicky Khilare, who worked tirelessly to bring Waghmare into custody.
