Autorickshaw Driver Arrested for Stealing Temple Bell: Kondhwa Police Crack the Case

Pune: In a recent development, the police have successfully apprehended an autorickshaw driver who was involved in the theft of a bell from Bhairavnath temple in Kondhwa. The accused, identified as Sohail Ilyaz Shaikh, confessed to stealing the bell with the intention of selling it for monetary gain.

Following the incident of the stolen bell, an FIR was lodged at the Kondhwa police station. During the investigation, police officials and personnel reviewed the CCTV footage, which revealed a person stealing the bell and fleeing with it in an autorickshaw. Further inquiries led the police to identify the owner of the autorickshaw, who disclosed that he had entrusted the vehicle to Sohail Ilyaz Shaikh for operating purposes. Acting upon this information, the police learned that Sohail would be present in the Lullanagar area on Tuesday. Taking advantage of this opportunity, a trap was set, resulting in the successful arrest of Sohail.

The diligent efforts of CP Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, ACP SB Salve, Sr PI Santosh Sonawane, PI Sanjay Mogale, and PI Sandeep Bhosale, along with the guidance of API Anil Survase, proved instrumental in apprehending the suspect. The police team, comprising officers such as Amol Hirve, Suhas More, Rahul Thorat, Ganesh Chinchkar, Abhijeet Ratnaparkhi, Rahul Rasge, and Vikas Margale, worked cohesively to ensure the successful execution of the operation.
