In a significant development, the Pune City Police and the Military Intelligence Unit of the Southern Command of the Indian Army have apprehended three additional individuals connected to a case involving the fraudulent extraction of Rs 1.88 Crore from army job aspirants. The newly apprehended suspects have been identified as Rajesh Lohar, Shrinivas Kulkarni, and Ankush Shinde. These names emerged during the interrogation of previously detained individuals.
Unmasking the Culprits
According to law enforcement authorities, Rajesh Lohar is a retired Havildar from the Indian Army, and Shinde is a doctor hailing from Belagavi. In a coordinated operation, the investigative team conducted raids at their respective locations, resulting in the confiscation of crucial materials, including laptops and documents. Among the seized documents were counterfeit recruitment letters promising jobs in the Indian Army.
The Elaborate Ruse
The police had previously apprehended multiple suspects in connection with this case, all accused of defrauding job seekers under the pretext of securing positions within the Indian Army. Victims were coerced into making monetary payments on various occasions, allegedly for purposes such as obtaining ID cards, facilitating recruitment exams, and more. The fraudulent scheme continued until one victim grew suspicious and reported the scam to the authorities. This incident led to the unveiling of the alleged fraud. A case has already been registered under the appropriate sections at the Kondhwa Police Station, and the investigation is ongoing.
