Political Maneuvers: Modi’s Rally Shifts Venue, MVA Adjusts Plans

PM Modi Road Show

The political arena in Pune is abuzz with developments as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming rally prompts adjustments in the schedules of other political players. Modi is slated to address a public gathering at Racecourse on April 29, where he will lend his support to four Mahayuti candidates from Pune district.

Initially, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had planned to host the rally at SP College Ground. However, owing to considerations regarding traffic management, the venue has been relocated to Racecourse.

In response to Modi’s rally, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has decided to reschedule its own public meeting, originally slated for Monday, to April 30. This decision aims to avert any potential clash with Modi’s event, recognizing that simultaneous large-scale gatherings could disrupt traffic flow in the city.

Ankush Kakade, spokesperson for the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), clarified, “In response to a request from the police, we have agreed to shift our rally at RMD ground in Warje to April 30. Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar will address the gathering in support of MVA candidates.”

In anticipation of Modi’s visit, Pune district guardian minister Ajit Pawar, along with Minister Chandrakant Patil and Rajya Sabha MP Medha Kulkarni, convened a meeting on Friday to oversee preparations and review arrangements for the rally.

Given that the public rally encompasses all four Lok Sabha constituencies – Pune, Baramati, Shirur, and Maval – the Mahayuti alliance has urged party workers to ensure their presence. Additionally, Modi is expected to hold another public meeting at Karad on the same day, further highlighting the significance of the political engagements in the region.
