Pune: Two-times Maharashtra Kesri winner Shivraj Rakshe appointed as Sports Officer in PMC

Pune: Two-times Maharashtra Kesri winner Shivraj Rakshe has been appointed as the Sports Officer in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The state government has issued an order in this regard. There are two posts of sports officers in the PMC. One post is filled through promotion while another is filled directly. Wrestler Rakshe has been appointed directly.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently handed over the letter of appointment to Shivraj Rakshe. Hence, he will soon join the civic body as its Sports Officer. Rakshe defeated Mahendra Gaikwad in 2023 and lifted the Maharashtra Kesri title first. In November 2023, he again won the prestigious title by defeating Harshvardhan Sadgir in Dharashiv.

Shivraj Rakshe is a native of Rakshewadi village near Rajgurunagar in the district. With his appointment, his parents’ dream has been fulfilled. His father and grandfather were also wrestlers. His family wished that Shivraj should win the Maharashtra Kesri title.

CM Shinde has proved that the state government stands behind all those sportspersons who make Maharashtra proud by their achievements.
