Pune, August 20, 2023 – In a decisive move to curb criminal activities and maintain law and order, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Pimpri Chinchwad’s Zone 1, Vivek Patil, has taken stern action by externing 53 on-record criminals from various jurisdictions, including Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune City, and Pune Rural. The decision comes in response to the continued involvement of these individuals in multiple criminal offenses, despite previous arrests and convictions. With the aim of fostering a safe and secure environment, the DCP issued orders to keep these repeat offenders away from the regions for a period of two years.
The move to extern repeat offenders is a testament to the administration’s commitment to upholding public safety and reducing crime rates. The decision was made after a thorough review of the criminal records of these individuals, provided by various police stations within Zone 1. Many of the individuals externed were reportedly engaged in gang-related activities that have contributed to an escalation in violent offenses within the Pimpri Chinchwad area.
Among the recent actions taken, a notable instance involved the externment of 13 individuals affiliated with a gang operating in Dapodi and Bhosari areas. This series of actions, executed between August 16 and August 18, underscores the administration’s resolve to curb criminal activities and disrupt the operations of repeat offenders who continue to engage in unlawful acts.
