Maharashtra Board’s Vigilance Pays Off: SSC Exams Witness Significant Drop in Cheating Cases

MSBSHSE’s Stringent Measures Lead to Successful Conduct of Class 10 Exams

Pune News: The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has effectively tackled cheating incidents during this year’s Class 10 State Secondary Certificate (SSC) examinations, which concluded today. Unlike previous years where instances of cheating and paper leaks tarnished the exams’ integrity, this year’s proceedings remained untainted by malpractices.

Sharad Gosavi, Chairman of the state board, expressed contentment, stating, “We are pleased with the smooth conduct of both SSC and HSC exams. Our proactive measures have helped curb cheating incidents significantly. Now, our focus shifts to ensuring timely result declarations, possibly ahead of last year’s schedule.”

According to data released by MSBSHSE, only 140 cheating cases were reported during this year’s SSC exams, marking a slight increase from the previous year’s 116 cases. The Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar division recorded the highest number of cases at 86, while Kolhapur and Konkan divisions remained free from such incidents.

Similarly, during the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams conducted from February 21 to March 19, there were 306 reported cheating cases, down from 345 cases reported last year. Gosavi reiterated the board’s commitment to upholding the integrity of examinations, acknowledging that cheating remains a prevalent issue in exams conducted across the state.

To combat cheating, MSBSHSE launched a robust ‘copy-free’ campaign, implementing stringent rules, bolstering flying squads, and enhancing surveillance through CCTV cameras at exam centers. Despite logistical challenges, question papers were securely transported to exam venues, ensuring the sanctity of the examination process.
