Solapur Surpasses Tier 1 Cities with Highest Annual Salary Package in India: Average Pay Soars to Rs 28 Lakh

Solapur, a Tier 2 city in Maharashtra, has emerged as the frontrunner in terms of the highest average annual salary package in India, surpassing prominent Tier 1 cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. This revelation comes from the recently released Average Salary Survey 2023, which sheds light on the salary trends across the country.

According to the survey, the average annual salary in Solapur, Maharashtra, stands at an impressive Rs 28,10,000, securing the top spot in the salary rankings. Mumbai follows closely behind, occupying the second position with an average annual salary of Rs 21.17 lakh, while Bengaluru claims the third spot with an average annual salary of Rs 21.01 lakh.

Delhi, a major metropolitan city, retains its position among the top contenders with an average annual salary of Rs 20.43 lakh. When considering the states, Uttar Pradesh takes the lead with the highest average annual salary, closely followed by West Bengal.

The survey, conducted in July 2023, also highlights that the most common annual salary in India is slightly over Rs 5 lakh, indicating a significant disparity between the highest and lowest income brackets. The average annual salary across the country is reported to be around Rs 18.91 lakh. It is important to note that there remains a notable gender pay gap, with men earning an average salary of Rs 19,53,055, while women receive an average salary of Rs 15,16,296.

Delving into the specific industries, the survey reveals that the highest paying profession in India is in the field of Management and Business, with an average annual salary exceeding Rs 29.50 lakh. Following closely behind is the field of Law, where professionals earn an average annual salary of around Rs 27 lakh.

Solapur’s remarkable achievement in surpassing Tier 1 cities in terms of average annual salary is a testament to the city’s growing prominence and economic development. This positive trend showcases the potential for growth and prosperity in Tier 2 cities, highlighting the increasing opportunities available outside of the major metropolitan areas.
