Combatting Dengue: Mylab Launches Advanced Tests for Accurate Diagnosis

Pune, August 22nd, 2023: Dengue fever continues to present a significant public health challenge in India due to its prevalence and impact. Recognizing the urgent need for accurate diagnosis, Mylab Discovery Solutions has unveiled two innovative tests designed to detect Dengue infections swiftly and reliably: the Dengue Rapid Gold Test and the Dengue High Accuracy Dry Luminescence Assay Test. These state-of-the-art point-of-care tests address the critical testing requirements for Dengue infections in the country.

The Dengue Rapid Gold Test and the Dengue Dry Luminescence Assay Test offer several key features:

  1. Differentiation of IgG and IgM Antibodies: These tests effectively distinguish between IgM and IgG antibodies, providing valuable insights into the stage and progression of Dengue infection.
  2. Rapid Point-of-Care Testing: The tests offer rapid point-of-care capabilities, allowing for quick on-the-spot diagnosis within just 15-20 minutes. There is no need for complex procedures or specialized laboratory setups.
  3. Enhanced Sensitivity and Specificity: Known for their high sensitivity and specificity, these tests ensure reliable and accurate results, crucial for effective disease management.
  4. Timely Detection of Infections: Positive IgM and IgG test results indicate recent Dengue virus infections, enabling timely intervention and appropriate patient care.
  5. Easy-to-Use: Designed for use even in resource-limited regions with a high prevalence of Dengue, these tests simplify diagnosis and support Dengue screening initiatives.

Speaking about the launch, Hasmukh Rawal, Co-founder & Managing Director of Mylab, stated, “The introduction of these tests reinforces our commitment to addressing the rising Dengue cases in India. These rapid point-of-care tests equip healthcare professionals with accurate and efficient tools for timely diagnosis, ultimately contributing to effective disease management.”

Positive IgM and IgG test results for Dengue antibodies indicate recent infection with the Dengue virus. In the case of primary Dengue infection, detectable levels of IgM antibodies appear as early as the 3rd day after infection and generally persist for 2-6 months. Following IgM, Dengue IgG antibodies emerge around day 7 of the fever during the primary infection and remain present for an extended period, potentially lasting for years.

Mylab’s introduction of these advanced tests aligns with its mission to equip healthcare professionals with cutting-edge diagnostic tools in the fight against the rising Dengue cases. The test kits are expected to be available by the end of this month, paving the way for enhanced Dengue diagnosis and management across the country.
