Securing Communities: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police’s Vigilance Leads to Arrest of Extortionist

In a significant development, the Pimpri-Chinchwad police have made a breakthrough arrest, apprehending an on-record criminal involved in threatening and extorting local businessmen. The arrest marks a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to combat extortion and criminal activities in the region.

The apprehended individual has been identified as Aslam Bashir Mujawar, hailing from Chikhali in Pimpri-Chinchwad. With a history of criminal activities documented in police records, Mujawar allegedly targeted local businessmen, employing intimidation tactics to extort money from them.

One of the complainants, Shivaji Unwane, who runs a men’s wear shop, reported that Mujawar demanded ₹10,000 upfront and ₹1,000 monthly as protection money in February. Similarly, Deepak Gire, who operates a juice center in the Chikhali area, was allegedly coerced into paying ₹5,000 initially and ₹3,000 monthly as protection money.

The suspect’s modus operandi involved issuing threats and demands for monetary payments, instilling fear among the business community in the area. Prompt action was taken by the police following the complaints, leading to the registration of a case at Chikhali police station under sections 384 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.
