Chinchwad – In response to the growing concerns over traffic congestion and the increasing rate of accidents in key areas of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC), local authorities have implemented stringent measures to address the issue. The move aims to regulate the flow of traffic and enhance road safety in prominent industrial and IT hubs, impacting regions such as Chakan, Bhosari, Talegaon, Hinjawadi, Talawade, and Chikahli.
The bustling Pimpri Market, the largest market in the vicinity, has played a pivotal role in the city’s rapid development, attracting citizens from various parts of the state and country. However, the influx of residents has contributed to the worsening traffic situation, particularly with the predominant use of luxury travel buses for journeys to hometowns.
Major contributors to traffic congestion have been identified as luxury travel buses operating from Nigdi, Talawade, and Bhosari within the commissionerate limits. Stops at various locations, including Pavle Bridge, Khandoba Mal, Chinchwad, Bijli Nagar, Chintamani Chowk, Ahimsa Chowk, Chaphekar Chowk, Thergaon, Birla Hospital, Dange Chowk, and Kalewadi, have led to an increase in traffic snarls and accidents. In response, authorities have prohibited these luxury buses from taking on passengers within the commissionerate limits after departing from their origin points.
To further streamline traffic and regulate the movement of luxury buses, the Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Branch has designated specific pick-up and drop points. Bhakti Shakti Circle in Nigdi, Tower Line in Talawade, Rupinagar’s Gavjatra Maidan, and Bhosari’s Babar Petrol Pump and Landewadi have been identified as fixed points for these buses. Strict enforcement, including penalties, will be applied to bus drivers, owners, and booking agents who violate these regulations, reinforcing the commitment to ensuring public safety and efficient traffic management in the PCPC jurisdiction.
