In recent months, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) has intensified its crusade against criminal elements, with a series of targeted crackdowns aimed at notorious gangs.
The PCPC’s robust measures have primarily centered on dismantling criminal syndicates, with recent operations zeroing in on gangs such as the Shinde Gang, Khan Gang, and Srigond Gang. Leveraging the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA), law enforcement agencies have ramped up their offensive against criminal activities, resulting in the apprehension of 12 gangs and 58 individuals under MCOCA statutes this year alone.
Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey’s approach to law enforcement has set new benchmarks within the Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate. Since assuming his position, the PCPC has initiated legal proceedings in 51 cases under MCOCA, taking decisive action against 357 criminals. This substantial uptick in proactive policing underscores Choubey’s steadfast commitment to upholding public safety and preserving law and order.
With the 2024 Lok Sabha elections looming, Commissioner Choubey and his team have redoubled their efforts to foster a transparent and secure social milieu conducive to free and fair elections. Responding to queries from Punekar News regarding the record-breaking enforcement of MCOCA, Commissioner Choubey reiterated the imperative of stringent measures against criminal syndicates. He underscored the proactive approach adopted by law enforcement in augmenting their database of criminals, facilitating prompt and efficacious police interventions against unlawful activities. He emphasized that the crackdown on criminal syndicates and MCOCA-driven actions have markedly deterred such activities, contributing to a reduction in serious crimes.
