Mumbai, July 24 (UNI) Top business organization, MSME Promotion Council India, which was established to help MSMEs access government-sponsored programs and incentives, has inaugurated its Maharashtra Chapter recently and appointed key Council members.

With the state of Maharashtra which is home to almost five million MSMEs, accounting for about 8% of the total MSME count in the country, the setting up of the Maharashtra Chapter at the right time as the state consolidates its position as one of the country’s prominent economic hubs.

The MSME Promotion Council India aims to assist the MSMEs in the state by way of acting as intermediary for the fund-access requirements of the latter. It is estimated that every year, funds to the tune of INR 120 crore are granted by the Central government to the state’s MSMEs for their respective capital requirements.
On the launch of Maharashtra Chapter, Vijay Kumar, Chairman, MSME Promotion Council India said, “The MSME sector is reported to contribute roughly 33% to India’s GDP.

Through the setting up of MSME Promotion Council India, our endeavour is to spread awareness on multiple aspects of the prominent role played by MSMEs in the country’s growth including job creating opportunities.
Maharashtra, with its vibrant economic significance holds an important role in the overall considerations and we are pleased to set up our presence in the state.
We look forward to serving as strong formidable partners to the state’s economic progress in times to come.”

Some of the key members appointed as part of the Council’s Committee for the State’s Chapter include Rajendra B. Gounder, Chairman, Rohit B. Gupta, Assistant Chairman, Rahul R. Mane, Assistant Vice Chairman, and CMD, Varsatile Group and other 12 Core Committee Members from different sectors.
To start with, MSME Promotion Council India will have its first office set up at Andheri here. Subsequently it plans to expand into other key regions of the State.
