Following the Bombay High Court’s denial of his pre-arrest bail plea, Bollywood actor and fitness coach Sahil Khan, renowned for his roles in films like Style and Excuse Me, has been arrested. Khan, initially gaining fame through a music video for Stereo Nation’s Nachange Sari Raat, later transitioned into a fitness expert, garnering recognition for his contributions to fitness awareness in Mumbai.
The actor, previously married to actress Negar Khan in 2003, underwent a divorce in 2005. Recent social media posts alongside his girlfriend Milena hint at a new marital status, revealing that Khan officially tied the knot after their engagement in Russia.
Khan’s arrest follows an FIR filed by social activist Prakash Bankar in November 2023, accusing the actor and several others of endorsing online betting applications. The complaint brought attention to multiple web portals facilitating online betting on various sports and card games, including the Khiladi Book associated with the actor.
Authorities are currently investigating alleged unlawful transactions between financial and real estate firms and backers of the Mahadev betting app, estimated at approximately ₹15,000 crore. The ongoing inquiry involves Khan and 31 others, with authorities scrutinizing their financial and technical devices.
Recent developments include the apprehension of two individuals in Chhattisgarh linked to the Mahadev app’s illicit activities by the Anti-Corruption Bureau/Economic Offence Wing. Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate has detained nine individuals in a separate investigation.
The FIR implicates former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and app promoters, alleging their involvement in facilitating live betting and gambling through various social media platforms. The accused reportedly earned substantial profits, with promoters retaining the majority of proceeds and transferring illegal funds to the UAE.
