Delhi Traffic Police Enforces Restrictions on Tughlak Road, Safdarjung Road, and Kemal Ataturk Marg
In light of anticipated political protests in the capital, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a stern advisory, prohibiting parking or halting of vehicles on specific roads in Delhi on Tuesday, March 26. This directive comes as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced plans to gherao Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence in protest against the recent arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
According to the advisory issued on Monday, vehicles will not be allowed to halt or park on Tughlak Road, Safdarjung Road, and Kemal Ataturk Marg. This measure is part of a special law and order arrangement implemented for Tuesday in the New Delhi area.
“To ensure smooth traffic management in the New Delhi area, no vehicle will be allowed to halt or park anywhere on Tughlak Road, Safdarjung Road, and Kemal Ataturk Marg,” stated the advisory. It warned that vehicles found parked on these roads would be towed away and the owners prosecuted for improper parking and disobedience of lawful instructions.
Additionally, the advisory outlined potential traffic diversions from Aurobindo Chowk, Tughlak Road, Samrat Hotel roundabout, Gymkhana Post Office roundabout, Teen Murti Haifa roundabout, Niti Marg roundabout, and Kautilya Marg roundabout.
Commuters were urged to avoid using Kemal Ataturk Marg, Safdarjung Road, Akbar Road, and Teen Murti Marg to minimize disruptions.
The recent arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the ED in connection with a money laundering case related to the excise policy of the Delhi government has sparked political unrest. Kejriwal remains in ED custody until March 28.
