New Convenience Stores to Boost Revenue at Noida’s Aqua Line Metro Stations

In a bid to enhance commuter convenience and boost revenue, the Uttar Pradesh government has launched an initiative to introduce convenience stores and kiosks at six key Metro stations along Noida’s Aqua Line.

Strategic Locations for Maximum Impact

The commercial spaces will be strategically located on the ground floors near the staircases at the selected stations. The stations set to benefit from this development are Sector 50, Sector 51, Sector 76, Alpha One, Delta One, and the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) office. This initiative aims to transform these stations into bustling hubs of activity, making daily commutes more convenient for passengers.

Invitation for Proposals

Officials from the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) have issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to invite applications for these commercial spaces. Interested parties have until July 3 to submit their bids. The selected agencies will be responsible for developing the commercial spaces and recruiting technical and non-technical personnel on a contract basis to ensure the smooth operation of these new facilities. The recruitment scope includes a wide range of roles, from unskilled and semi-skilled workers to highly skilled manpower, clerical and administrative staff, junior engineers, and maintainers. This step is aimed at enhancing the efficiency and robustness of Metro station operations, ensuring a seamless experience for commuters.

“The introduction of these stores and kiosks is part of our broader strategy to improve facilities at Metro stations and increase NMRC’s revenue,” said a senior NMRC official. “We are optimistic that this will significantly benefit our commuters by providing easy access to essential goods and services during their travels.”

Contract Details and Future Prospects

The licenses for these convenience stores will be issued for a period of five years, with a mandatory lock-in period of one year. Based on performance, there is a possibility of extending the license for up to three additional years. The project involves converting a total of 310 square meters across the six stations into convenience stores. Applicants seeking a license must provide detailed plans, including sectional and elevation diagrams, architectural front elevations, structural stability certificates, quality and safety reports, and details regarding electric power, sanitary, and water supply.
