Gurugram’s Metro Revolution: New 28KM Route Unveiled to Transform Connectivity


In a monumental move to bolster urban connectivity, Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) has embarked on an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for Gurugram’s new 28 km metro route. This development is poised to redefine commuting standards and bring metro services closer to the residents of old Gurugram.

Key Highlights:

  1. Budget Allocated for Progress: HMRTC has earmarked Rs 1.40 crore for the ESIA, underlining the commitment to advancing sustainable and efficient metro infrastructure.
  2. Connecting Old Gurugram: The primary objective of this metro route is to seamlessly connect the residents of old Gurugram to the metro network, simplifying their access to essential services.
  3. Government Approval Milestone: Central Government granted approval to the route on June 8, 2023, setting the wheels in motion for this ambitious project.
  4. Stations Galore: With 27 proposed metro stations, the route will span from HUDA City Center to Cyber City, covering pivotal areas like Sector-45, Cyber Park, and Udyog Vihar.
  5. DMRC’s Feasibility Evaluation: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is assessing the feasibility of deploying 2.9-meter coaches, potentially enhancing passenger capacity and operational efficiency.
  6. Future Prospects and Adjustments: Ongoing efforts are being made to explore proposals and adjustments, especially concerning the existing Rapid Metro station in Sector-56, Gurugram.
  7. Formation of Gurugram Metro Rail Limited: A new entity, Gurugram Metro Rail Limited, is on the horizon, dedicated to executing the Millennium City Center to Cyber City Gurugram metro connectivity project.
  8. Ridership Surge: HMRTC Chairman Sanjeev Kaushal reported a remarkable 35.54% increase in ridership this year compared to the previous year, signaling a substantial growth in metro usage.

As Gurugram takes strides towards this transformative metro route, the city anticipates elevated connectivity and urban mobility, setting the stage for a promising future.
