In preparation for the Republic Day Parade on January 26th, Delhi Metro and bus schedules have been strategically adjusted to accommodate the large influx of commuters attending this significant national event. These changes aim to facilitate seamless transit and enhance security measures during the celebration.

Delhi Metro Schedule Adjustments

Early Operation Hours: To cater to attendees of the Republic Day Parade, Delhi Metro trains will begin operations at 4 AM on January 26th. From 4 AM to 6 AM, trains on all lines will run at 30-minute intervals, allowing spectators to reach the parade venue on time.

Normal Operations Post 6 AM: After 6 AM, the metro will resume its regular timetable. Passengers holding e-invitation cards or e-tickets for the Republic Day ceremony will receive coupons for travel to the duty path, as confirmed by Anuj Dayal, DMRC’s Executive Director of Corporate Communication.

Free Travel for E-Invitation and E-Ticket Holders: Commuters with e-invitation cards or e-tickets, accompanied by a government-recognized photo ID, can travel to the duty path free of charge. The Ministry of Defence will reimburse the travel costs to DMRC.

Changes to Bus Routes

Route Diversions: On January 26th, specific bus routes will be diverted due to the Republic Day Parade. Vijay Chowk, Rajpath, India Gate, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Delhi Gate, and Netaji Subhash Marg will witness traffic restrictions.

Parade Route and Timing: The Republic Day Parade will commence at Vijay Chowk after 4 AM, proceeding through Rajpath, India Gate, R.A. Princess Place, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Delhi Gate, and Netaji Subhash Marg before concluding at the Red Fort. Vehicle traffic on this route will be diverted from 4 AM onwards, following the guidance of the traffic police.

These modifications in the Delhi Metro’s schedule and bus routes are crucial to managing the anticipated surge in visitors and maintaining order during the Republic Day Parade. Commuters are strongly advised to plan their travel arrangements in advance, staying informed about the latest traffic updates to ensure a hassle-free experience during one of India’s most esteemed national celebrations.
