Fertiliser prices stable in Maharashtra compared to last year: Dhananjay Munde

Dhananjay Munde

Mumbai, July 19 (UNI) Maharashtra Cabinet minister Dhananjay Munde on Wednesday informed the state assembly that prices of some fertilisers have decreased and that of other varieties have remained stable this year compared to 2022 following increased subsidy given by the central government.

Munde was replying to a question raised by Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar during the Question hours in the state assembly.

Munde gave details about the varieties of fertilisers and their prices for the two years.

He said the government has taken the issue of supply of bogus seeds to farmers very seriously and would come up a law with provision of stricter action against the bogus seed sellers as the old legislation introduced in 1966, provides for minor action or suspension of license for the offence.

The amount of crop loan disbursement was Rs 24,000 crores in 2022, while more than 28,000 crores have been disbursed till now in 2023, he said. The deadline for crop loan in Kharif season is July 31, and so no farmer who is eligible will be deprived.

Meanwhile, everyone should have welcomed the announcement that the state government is going to bring a strict law against sellers of bogus of seeds.

Munde also appealed to the Legislative Assembly that if there are any problems in any constituency, taluka or village in the matter of crop loan distribution or seeds, the legislators, irrespective of whether they are from the treasury benches or the opposition, should raise them. “We will solve them together, we should be sensitive to the farmers’ issue, and no politics should be played anywhere,” he assured .
