Ex-Maha CM Prithviraj Chavan gets threat e-mail

Satara : Jul 30 (UNI) The Karad police have deployed heavy police force at residence of former Maharashtra chief minister and senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan in Karad town of the district and registered a case against an unidentified person who allegedly sent a threatening e-mail to him for raising a question in state assembly on controversial statement of Shree Shiv Pratisthan founder Sambhaji Bhide on Mahatma Gandhi and demanding a stern action against Bhide.

Chavan received an e-mail from an address in Nanded district of Marathwada region, threatening him for raising issue of Bhide in the state assembly and demanding his arrest.

Chavan informed about this to Karad police, who deployed heavy police force at his residence in Karad and registered a case against the unknown person for sending threatening e-mail to the senior Congress leader.

The Karad police also informed their Nanded counterparts, who also registered a case against the suspect, whose identity has yet to be ascertained.

Bhide, a controversial hardline right-wing leader, while addressing a rally in Amaravati district two days ago, had reportedly said, “Mahatma Gandhi’s father is not Karamchand Gandhi, his real father was a Muslim landlord.”

Then, Chavan, while raising the issue in state assembly, said that Bhide’s derogatory remark against the Father of the Nation could spread hatred in society and demanded to arrest him immediately.
