School Education Department Launches Helpline to Guide 2023 Batch Students in Pursuing Higher Education

In a proactive move to assist students from the batch of 2023 in navigating their options for higher education, the School Education Department has launched a dedicated helpline, 14417. With over 182,000 students from this cohort, the initiative focuses on engaging and supporting students as they consider advanced studies.

The department has already engaged with nearly half of the students, aiming to address concerns and provide guidance to those who decide not to pursue further education. To facilitate counseling sessions for such students, the collector will oversee the process, ensuring that each student’s unique situation is considered.

Shilpi Shukla, the Operational Head, highlighted the efforts to reach out to students from the 2023 batch who may choose not to continue their education. Common reasons cited include a lack of interest or financial constraints. The helpline is designed to offer assistance and information to such students, helping them make informed decisions about their future.

The initiative has covered approximately 14 out of 38 districts in the state, with a particular focus on regions facing financial hardships. Students from areas like Tiruchi, Dindigul, and Krishnagiri have been provided support in understanding various government schemes aimed at facilitating higher education.

With a growing number of students opting out of pursuing advanced studies, the government’s proactive stance reflects its commitment to ensuring equitable access to educational opportunities for all. The helpline serves as a valuable resource for students, offering guidance and support as they navigate the crucial decision of pursuing higher education.
