Pune Water Park Tragedy: 6-Year-Old Girl Drowns, FIR Filed Against Manager and Owner

Pune, Ravet, June 15, 2023: A heart-wrenching incident unfolded at Sentosa Water Park in Ravet, Pimpri Chinchwad, as a 6-year-old girl tragically lost her life by drowning. The unfortunate event occurred on Wednesday afternoon at around 2 pm, sending shockwaves through the community.

Local authorities have taken action by registering a case against the manager and owner of the water park, alleging their failure to implement necessary safety measures that could have prevented such a devastating incident.

According to the police report, the young girl, accompanied by her mother and brother, visited Sentosa Water Park on Wednesday. While playing in the designated area, the child accidentally drowned around 2 pm, leading to an immediate response from on-site staff and fellow visitors.

Following the incident, the grieving mother filed a complaint with the police, shedding light on several critical safety lapses within the water park. The complaint specifically pointed out the absence of life jackets for children in the play area and the lack of signboards indicating the depth of the pool.

Furthermore, the complaint highlighted the absence of railings at the bottom of the pool and the apparent absence of lifeguards during the time of the tragedy. The mother firmly believes that her daughter’s drowning was a direct result of the water park’s failure to adhere to necessary safety regulations.

Acting upon the complaint, the police have filed a case under sections 304 (a) and 34 against the manager and owner of the water park. The authorities are diligently investigating the matter, gathering additional information and evidence to ascertain the sequence of events leading to the tragic incident.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the crucial importance of implementing and maintaining stringent safety measures within recreational establishments, particularly those involving water activities. The authorities, along with concerned stakeholders, must work together to ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future, safeguarding the well-being of all visitors and prioritizing their safety above all else.
