Pune, 28th June 2023: A disturbing incident unfolded in Mulshi, Pune, as three individuals pretending to be Londoners successfully tricked a petrol pump employee, swindling him of Rs 35,000.
The incident was brought to light when Ashok Dadu Chavan reported the fraudulent act, leading to the registration of an FIR against the culprits who were traveling in a white Honda Amaze car. The incident took place at the Dhamale HPCL Petrol Pump in Akole, Mulshi.
According to the police, the impersonators meticulously planned their scheme. Arriving at the HPCL Petrol Pump in Akole, Mulshi, in a white Honda Amaze, they posed as customers in need of refueling. As it came time for payment, the trio feigned confusion over Indian currency, claiming unfamiliarity with the denominations. Exploiting the situation, they showcased their foreign currency to the unsuspecting petrol pump employee, requesting him to provide a demonstration of Indian currency and explain the variations in denominations. During this interaction, the cunning scammers covertly extorted Rs 35,000 from the employee.
Swiftly responding to the incident, Ashok Dadu Chavan wasted no time in filing a complaint. As a result, an FIR has been lodged against the three individuals who were traveling in the white Honda Amaze car at the Dhamale HPCL Petrol Pump in Akole.
Authorities are currently investigating the matter and taking necessary steps to apprehend the impersonators involved in this fraudulent act. Such incidents serve as a reminder for individuals to remain vigilant and cautious while dealing with unfamiliar situations or unusual requests to avoid falling victim to scams and financial exploitation.
