Pune: Police and firemen save youth’s life at Ambegaon

PUNE: The police and fire brigade jawans managed to save the life of a youth who had jumped from the fourth floor of a building to die by suicide in the Sinhagad College area at Ambegaon.

The youth had been identified as Vivek Parkhi (21), hailing from Nepal, was preparing to jump from the terrace of a four storey building at Ambar Green Society on Sinhagad College Campus to die by suicide. When local residents came to know, they informed the police and the fire brigade jawans. A rescue team reached the spot in no time. Till then, many people had gathered leading to commotion. The entire drama went on for one and a half hour.

When the rescue team was spreading a net to catch the youth, Vivek jumped from the terrace. The team caught him and managed to save his life.

In-charge API Sameer Kadam of Ambegaon Pathar police chowki under the jurisdiction of Bharati Vidyapeeth police station, beat marshal and jawans of the fire brigade endangered their lives and saved the youth’s life. It has come to light that the youth had tried to end his life earlier and the police are probing the case.
