Crackdown On Crime Continues: Pune Police Commissioner Books Chetan Chavan In 66th Case Under MPDA

Pune: Pune police commissioner Ritesh Kumar continues its action against lawbreakers in the city, taking the latest action against a 22-year-old notorious criminal, Chetan Laxman Chavan, under the MPDA Act. The accused, a resident of Ingle colony, Uttamnagar, has been facing charges of creating terror within the limits of Bundgarden police station. Notably, this is the 66th action of the police commissioner under the MPDA Act since assuming responsibility.

As per the police record, the accused is an inveterate criminal, having multiple cases registered against him at Uttamnagar and Bundgarden police station limits. He and his accomplices have created terror in the area by possessing serious weapons such as pistols and swords. The authority also wants him for charges such as attempted murder, hurting, rioting, and committing various crimes in the area.

Notably, in the last five years, five serious crimes have been registered against him. Local residents complained that his violent and menacing activities created a question of law and order in society.

Therefore, a proposal to invoked the MPDA Act against Chetan Chavan was submitted to Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar. After verifying the received proposal and accompanying documents, the Commissioner of Police has ordered to lodge the accused, Chetan Chavan, in Amravati Central Jail for a term of one year under the MPDA Act.

As a result, Chetan Chavan was captured and taken into custody by the Uttamnagar police team. This operation was carried out by Senior Police Inspector Kiran Balwadkar of Uttamnagar Police Station, Crime Branch, Senior Police Inspector Chandrakant Bedre of PCB, police officers, and other law enforcers.
