Pune : After three years of persistent follow-back and investigation, the police officials from the Pune area have successfully unravelled the mystery surrounding the woman’s death that occurred in August 2020. In this case, Parvati police apprehended a 26-year-old Kothrud resident from his house.
On August 17, 2020, a dead body of a 30- to 35-year-old woman was found near a water tank in the Parvati Hill area. In this regard, neither the identity of a woman was revealed nor the reason behind her death. However, a forensic report claimed that the woman was killed by hitting her head with a hard object.
The police officials formed four separate police teams to investigate the case. Accordingly, these teams minutely checked all details of missing women from rural as well as urban areas of the state. Through their investigation, police found that Rohan Santosh Chavan filed a missing complaint about her wife at Khed Shivapur Police Outpost under Rajgad Police Station three years ago.
While tracing the identity, police noted similarities between the details of a missing woman and the dead body they had found. Upon further investigation into the case and interrogation of Chavan, police apprehend Sagar Dadahari Sathe, the main culprit in the case. Police detained Sathe, who subsequently confessed to the alleged killing of Surekha Santosh Chavan over financial disputes.
Senior Police Inspector Jayram Paigude is investigating further into the case.
