Pune: Rupali Chakankar, the Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission, recently visited the Hirakani section at the Pune Municipal Corporation. Following her visit, she addressed the media and clarified her stance on contesting the upcoming assembly elections.
In response to a question about her potential candidacy on a BJP ticket from the Khadakwasla constituency, Chakankar provided clarification. She stated that she has held various positions within the NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) and suggested arranging a meeting between herself and those who claimed she was willing to contest from another party. Chakankar expressed surprise at hearing such information through the media.
Chakankar expressed her gratitude towards Sharad Pawar, a prominent political figure, for providing her with the opportunity to serve as the Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission. She acknowledged that Pawar had given a person from an ordinary family like herself a chance to hold such a position. Chakankar confirmed that she has already sought the party’s ticket to contest from the Khadakwasla constituency.
