Pune: A peculiar accident occurred on Sunday at Tyre Phata in the Uruli Kanchan area along the Pune-Solapur highway, resulting in injuries to twelve individuals. The collision involved a tempo, two cars, and two-wheelers. The injured victims have been identified as Sachin Kumar, Ashish Kumar, Raj Kishor, Rohit Babanrao Gaikwad, Sonali Rohit Gaikwad, Chhabi, Ramdas Aherkar, Vinod Hosamani, Vivek Hosamani, Shankar Narle, and Bablu Kuwar. They are currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in the Uruli Kanchan area.
According to the police report, the tempo was traveling towards Solapur on the Pune-Solapur highway, carrying iron plates typically used in construction. Unfortunately, the tempo driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a car after crossing over the divider. Subsequently, the tempo also crashed into another car, causing further damage. Additionally, a two-wheeler rider sustained injuries in the mishap. Shockingly, two minor girls were among the injured.
Upon the occurrence of the accident, Bapu Giri from Kasturi Pratishsthan, along with Santosh Zombade, Suresh Varpe, Milind Memane, and ambulance driver Ajit Kamble, promptly rushed to the scene to assist the injured victims. They swiftly arranged for their transfer to the hospital. Local villagers reported that another vehicle crashed into the tempo following the initial accident.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the tempo driver’s loss of control.
