Pune: In Pune’s Wanwadi area, a retired police inspector was assaulted around 8:30 p.m. on Friday night. The police inspector received multiple injuries in this deadly attack, and his condition is said to be critical.
The attacked individual is identified as Wazir Shaikh. Shaikh is a retired police inspector who retired from police service a few months ago. Shaikh is currently residing in the Kondhwa area along with his family.
According to the primary reports, on Friday night, when Shaikh was walking on the road, a few assailants targeted them and launched a sudden heavy stone attack on them. Without any moment to comprehend, the assailant quickly departed from the scene, leaving Shaikh seriously wounded on Wanwadi streets.
After learning of the incident, Wanwadi police quickly rushed to the spot and shifted Shaikh to the Ruby Hospital for urgent medical treatment. Shaikh is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital; however, since the attack, he has not regained consciousness, and doctors have informed that his condition is critical at the moment.
Regarding the attack, police said that though the identities of the assailants are not known at the moment, they have started an investigation into the case. They also state that the process of filing charges against assailants has been initiated. The exact reason behind the attack is also not known.
Wanwadi Police is conducting further investigation into the crime.
