Pune Police Cracks Down on Tedya Satpute and Gang Under MCOCA: A Victory Against Organized Crime

PUNE: The police commissioner has taken action against notorious criminal Omkar alias Tedya Satpute and his four accomplices under MCOCA. Satpute is involved in a case where he asked minors to fire at a person over previous enmity. Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar has so far taken action against 42 organised criminal gangs under MCOCA.

The complainant was playing cricket on the road opposite his house at Jai Bhavani Nagar at Ram Nagar on July 17. The accused called the complainant, abused him and pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him. The complainant changed the direction of the gun’s nozzle and a bullet hit the ground. The accused opened fire at the complainant. The complainant was hit on the waist by a bullet and he was seriously injured. The sudden firing created tension in the area. An FIR has been registered at the Warje Malwadi police station under section 307 and 34 of the IPC, Arm Act, Maharashtra Police Act, Criminal Law Amendment Act.

While probing the case, the police questioned the relatives of minor children. They came to know that the crime had been committed due to previous enmity by minors on the orders issued by Omkar alias Tedya Umesh Satpute (23), a resident of Warje Malwadi and Veer Fakira Yuvraj Kamble (22), a resident of Shivne. It came to light that the accused had used minor children to carry out the crime. In the FIR, the section of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act was included.

Omkar alias Tedya Satpute has been arrested and three minors have been apprehended. Veer Kamble is absconding and the police are searching for him. The accused, Satpute, formed a criminal gang and has committed serious crimes like attempted murder, robbery, conspiring to commit a crime, possessing weapons without licence, creating terror, issuing threats to kill, causing injuries and violating police orders.

A proposal of including section 3(1) (ii), 3(2), 3(4) of MCOCA, 1999 in the FIR registered at the police station was sent to Addl CP Pravin Kumar Patil. After checking the proposal, he gave his approval. Further investigation is being carried out by ACP Bhimrao Tele.

The police commissioner has so far taken action against 42 organised criminal gangs. Such action will be taken in the future also.

The action was taken by Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Pravin Kumar Patil, DCP Suhail Sharma and ACP Bhimrao Tele by Senior PI Sunil Jaitapurkar, PI Ajay Kulkarni, PSI Vishal Minde, policemen Sambhaji Darade, Vijay Khilari and Nitin Katurde.
