Pune: 12-Year-Old Boy Held for Alleged Sexual Assault on 7-Year-Old Girl in School; FIR Filed

Lonavala, 30th June 2023: A disturbing incident has come to light at Zilla Parishad School in Maval, Pune district, where a 7-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 12-year-old boy.

The incident occurred on June 26, within the school premises during regular school hours, specifically in the school’s restroom. The Lonavala rural police were informed of the incident on June 28, and a thorough investigation is currently underway.

A 29-year-old woman lodged the complaint, leading to the apprehension of the 12-year-old boy, who was subsequently presented before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). Immediate action was taken to ensure the well-being of the young victim, who was promptly taken to the hospital for a comprehensive medical examination. It is pertinent to mention that both the victim and the alleged perpetrator are students at the same school. The young girl, displaying immense courage, confided in her mother about the traumatic incident, prompting her mother to report the matter to the police.

Based on the available information, it has been revealed that the 12-year-old boy forcefully took hold of the hand of the 7-year-old girl and coerced her into the boys’ restroom, where the alleged sexual assault occurred. The victim, in a state of fear and distress, cried out during the harrowing ordeal. Once she returned home, she mustered the courage to share the distressing details of the incident with her parents.

Senior Police Inspector Kishor Dhumal commented on the situation, stating, “Both children involved are students of Zilla Parishad Primary School. Following the complaint lodged regarding this incident, we have registered a case under sections 363, 376, and POSCO 4, 8, 12.”
