PUNE: A gang of 10-15 individuals, driven by past animosity, launched a vicious assault on two brothers using sickles in an attempt to end their lives. The group also targeted their two friends, creating a climate of terror in the area.
Aniruddh Anil Jagtap (25), a resident of Camp, lodged a complaint (134/23) at the Lashkar police station, leading to the registration of an FIR against Alex Gawli and his accomplices numbering between 10 and 15. The incident unfolded at around 12:30 am on Sunday, on the road between Azam Camp Gate and Poona College Gate number 2.
According to the police, the complainant, along with his brother Pankaj Jagtap, was conversing with their friends Sahil and Kaustubh when the assailants arrived on five to six motorcycles. Alex Gawli, in particular, ordered his associates to execute the two brothers due to unresolved enmity, and they proceeded to attack them with sickles.
In the ensuing chaos, as the complainants attempted to flee, a gold chain belonging to one of them fell onto the road. Pankaj Jagtap, the complainant’s cousin, suffered injuries to his hand and head from the sickle-wielding attackers. Their friend Sahil sustained blows to his back and leg, while Kaustubh was targeted on his stomach. The assailants brazenly displayed their weapons and issued warnings to onlookers, leaving the local residents in fear for their safety.
API Gaikwad is currently overseeing the investigation of this case, aiming to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore a sense of security in the area. The police will thoroughly examine all available evidence and interview witnesses to gather crucial information to aid in the swift apprehension of the culprits.
