Vertiv Expands Footprint in India with New Chakan Facility, Anticipates 500 Jobs

In a significant move, Vertiv, a US-based company specializing in manufacturing cooling solutions, inaugurated its latest manufacturing facility in Chakan, India. The expansive facility, sprawling over 4.8 acres, is poised to employ more than 500 individuals directly, adding to Vertiv’s substantial presence in the country.

Enhancing Manufacturing Capabilities

Vertiv already boasts two manufacturing facilities in India, located in Ambernath and Pune. The Chakan facility, the latest addition to the company’s infrastructure, will primarily focus on the production of thermal solutions. Subhasis Majumdar, Managing Director of Vertiv India, emphasized the significance of the Chakan facility in Vertiv’s supply chain. He noted, “Our supply chain includes vendors and sub-vendors who have also set up their facilities in Chakan.”

Indirect Employment and Collaborative Growth

While the direct employment at the Chakan facility is expected to exceed 500, the indirect impact on employment is anticipated to be even more substantial. The vendors and suppliers associated with Vertiv, mainly from Ambernath and other regions in India, contribute significantly to the overall employment ecosystem. Furthermore, the facility in Chakan aims to cater not only to the Indian market but also has aspirations for global exports in the future.

Strategic Significance of Chakan Facility

The Chakan facility is not merely a manufacturing unit; it also houses a global engineering center, fostering coordination in research and development activities across various Vertiv facilities. This strategic integration highlights Vertiv’s commitment to innovation and technological advancements in the field of cooling solutions.

Anticipating Future Cooling Innovations

As the data center landscape continues to evolve, Vertiv positions itself as a key player, recognizing the growing demand for advanced cooling solutions. Giordano Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv, emphasized the importance of innovation in cooling solutions, especially as data centers become more advanced. He envisions future cooling solutions that can effectively address the challenges posed by densification in data center environments.

Continued Growth in India

Vertiv India, with a workforce of over 2,000 employees and a country-wide presence, plays a vital role in servicing the data center market. The new Chakan facility signifies not only an expansion of manufacturing capabilities but also a strategic investment in India’s rapidly growing technology landscape.
