Tragic Collision Claims Life of MSRTC Bus Driver in Pune-Nashik Highway Accident

Pune, August 12, 2023: A devastating incident unfolded on the Pune-Nashik highway, leaving a trail of sorrow as a speeding tempo crashed into a stationary MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation) bus. The tragic collision resulted in the untimely demise of the bus driver, marking a somber day for road safety.

The incident occurred at the 19th Mile Nandurkhandarmal in Sangamner Taluka on the Pune-Nashik Highway, casting a dark cloud over the early morning hours of Saturday. The clock struck 3:55 a.m. when the calamity struck. The MSRTC bus was stationary, with its driver, Mayur Ananda Mundhe (45), attending to a punctured tire using a jack.

Mundhe, a resident of Nashik, tragically lost his life due to the sudden impact of the speeding Eicher Tempo (HR 47 E4078) that collided with the stationary bus. The MSRTC bus, bearing the registration number MH20BL 4094, faced the full force of the collision, causing severe injuries to the bus driver. The incident unfolded under the jurisdiction of the Ghargaon police station in Sangamner taluka.

Following the grievous accident, Sandip Namdev Khode, the conductor of the MSRTC bus and also hailing from Nashik District, promptly filed a formal complaint at the Ale Phata police station in Pune District. The incident deeply affected not only the bus driver but also the conductor and those who were involved in the immediate aftermath.

The injured Mundhe was swiftly rushed to the Mauli Hospital in Ale Phata for medical attention. Arun Shelar, the driver of the Navapur-Pune bus, was informed about the unfortunate incident by conductor Khode. Despite the efforts to save him, Mundhe’s injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead by medical professionals at the hospital.
