Pune Rural Police have taken legal action against three tourists from Telangana who were caught flying drones over INS Shivaji, an Indian Naval Station situated in Lonavala. This incident resulted in the interception of the individuals by navy personnel, and a subsequent FIR was filed by INS Shivaji officials.

The three accused have been identified as Balkrishna Viresham Muntha (29), K Dinesh K Anand (29), and Tanis Tilak Teja Srinivas Rao (25). They have been booked under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Authorities at INS Shivaji seized the drone involved in the incident, and the arrested tourists have received notices from the police.

It’s essential to note that flying drones in sensitive areas is strictly prohibited, and INS Shivaji holds a prestigious position within the Indian Navy. The tourists were caught flying drones near Signal 773 Unit, close to the Air Force Station in the vicinity. Similar instances have occurred in the past when individuals operating drones in restricted zones were apprehended by navy officials, leading to legal action by local law enforcement. An investigation into the matter revealed that the tourists did not have malicious intentions but were unaware of the established restrictions.
