Pune / Pimpri: Nine workers were seriously injured when a slab of an under-construction hospital collapsed in Dighi at around 7.30 pm on Tuesday (June 18). The incident took place on the Ajeenkya DY Patil College of Engineering campus at Charholi Budruk.

Two persons have been booked at the Dighi Police Station.

Policeman Anil Ramchandra Shinde (36) lodged a complaint in this regard. A case has been registered under sections 337, 338, 34 of the IPC against carpenter contractor Mohammad Abrar Alam and concrete contractor Mohammad Rashid.

According to the police, a hospital is being built on the Engineering College campus of the Ajeenkya DY Patil University. The porch of the building was being constructed on Tuesday. As the slab was being built, it was not supported properly and it collapsed. Nine workers were seriously hurt in the incident. The accused did not take due care while undertaking the construction, stated the complaint. The police are investigating further.

Life bid on construction worker

Chakan: Two construction workers tried to kill another worker with a sharp weapon at a labour camp at Ambethan on Tuesday (June 18) night.

The assailants were upset as they were laid off on the pretext that they came to work after getting drunk and were not working properly. They tried to create a ruckus at the construction site. The victim tried to shoo them away when they attacked him.

The injured has been identified as Kamlesh Sharma. Contractor Ranjit Amrut Rathod (28), a resident of Khed, lodged a complaint at the Mahalunge MIDC Police Station.

A case under sections 307, 34 has been registered against Dharmendra (36), hailing from UP and Shyam Bihari (42).
