Active Citizenry Drives Surge in Registered Voters Across Assembly Constituencies
The recently released voter list for Pune district has revealed a significant surge in registered voters, totaling 82,92,951 individuals across Pune city and its 21 assembly constituencies.
Dr. Suhas Diwase, the Collector, announced this milestone, highlighting a notable increase from the previous figure of 81,27,019 voters. The rise, amounting to 1,65,932 individuals, is attributed to a surge in registration applications and the inclusion of voters relocating to Pune from various states.
Dr. Diwase commended the proactive efforts of the district administration, which have resulted in a substantial rise in new voter enrollments. Currently, approximately 23,000 applications are under review for further processing. Prospective voters are urged to utilize the registration window, with deadlines varying based on Lok Sabha constituencies.
Underlining the importance of ongoing training for election personnel, Dr. Diwase outlined plans to increase the number of polling stations to 8,382 across the district’s assembly constituencies to accommodate the growing voter population. The breakdown of voter counts by Lok Sabha constituencies is as follows: Pune – 2,047,389, Baramati – 2,326,487, Shirur – 2,527,241, Maval – 1,355,914.
