Pune: GHRCEMP Team developed DeepShield Inspector App for fact-checking of deep fake content

The Team Clinches 2nd Prize at Composit Ideathon, IIT Kharagpur

Pune: The Data Science Department of G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering and Management (GHRCEM), Pune’s Cyber Security TY students’ team, “Power Rangers 2.O,” has secured 2nd prize at the Composit Ideathon, hosted by IIT Kharagpur. The event witnessed participation from 600 teams across India.
The team’s solution, the DeepShield Inspector app, offers a robust platform for fact-checking deep fake content, providing users with the means to discern authentic information from fabricated or manipulated content. With the rampant spread of deep fake technology, the Power Rangers 2.O team’s initiative addresses a critical need for safeguarding the integrity of digital content and protecting individuals from misinformation.

Talented individuals, including Prasad Dhend, Vaishnavi Hande, Kshitija Gosavi, and Anuj Shukla, the Power Rangers 2.O team showcased exceptional skills and innovative thinking throughout the competition. Their project, the “DeepShield Inspector” app, aims to combat the proliferation of deep fake content, which has significantly impacted individuals, including celebrities, in various spheres of life.

As their outstanding performance, the Power Rangers 2.O team was awarded medals, certificates, a cash prize of INR 6,000, and the invaluable opportunity of mentor guidance from IIT Kharagpur.

Dr. Arti Patle, Dr. Deepika Ajalkar, and Dr. Swapnil Mahajan served as invaluable mentors to the Power Rangers 2.O team, guiding and supporting them throughout their journey in conceptualizing and developing their project.

Dr. R. D. Kharadkar, Campus Director, stated that the Power Rangers 2.O team’s achievement at the Composit Ideathon demonstrates GHRCEM students’ exceptional talents, perseverance, and originality. It emphasises the institution’s role as a pioneer in encouraging educational excellence and empowering students to make meaningful contributions to society through innovative endeavours.
