Heat Wave Alert: Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Pradesh Prepare for Sweltering Temperatures

As temperatures soar across parts of Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Pradesh, authorities issue warnings and advice on coping with the heat.

Over the next three days, residents in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh should brace for a gradual increase in maximum temperatures by 2 to 3°C. This uptick will also influence minimum temperatures, with forecasts indicating stability thereafter.

Heat wave conditions are expected in isolated pockets of North Konkan from April 27 to 29, extending to Mumbai on April 28 and 29. Similarly, isolated areas in South Konkan, including Ratnagiri, are likely to experience heat waves on April 28th and 29th.

In Marathwada, a similar temperature trend is anticipated, with both maximum and minimum temperatures gradually rising over the next three days, followed by stable conditions.

Meanwhile, in Konkan and Goa, maximum temperatures are projected to increase by 2 to 3°C in the next three days, leading to hot and humid conditions thereafter. Isolated areas in North Konkan will face these conditions from April 27th to 30th, while South Konkan will be affected from April 27th to 29th.

Authorities urge residents to take necessary precautions to safeguard against the heat wave and hot/humid conditions:

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to heat.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking ample water, even if not feeling thirsty, to prevent dehydration.
  • Opt for lightweight, light-colored, loose cotton clothing.
  • Shield your head with a wet cloth, hat, or umbrella when venturing out during peak hours.
  • Caution workers to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours and schedule strenuous tasks for cooler times of the day.
  • Increase the frequency and duration of rest breaks for outdoor activities.
  • Be vigilant for signs of heat stroke, heat rash, or heat cramps, including weakness, dizziness, headache, nausea, sweating, and seizures. Seek medical assistance promptly if feeling faint or unwell.
  • Farmers are advised to maintain irrigation activities to counteract the effects of rising temperatures.

Stay tuned for further updates as the weather situation evolves.
