Pune: ACB Nabbed 38-Year-Old In Accepting Bribery Over Fraudulent Electricity Fine Reduction Claims

Pune : A 26-year-old individual registered a case against a person over demanding a bribe of Rs twenty thousand for reducing the fine amount of the light bill on December 13. In this case, the anti-corruption department of Pune took action yesterday and apprehended 38-year-old Arjun Harishchandra Waikar from Manchar.

The complainant owns a dry cleaning shop. In the month of December, the complainant received a notice of fine of Rs twenty thousand from the Mahavitaran office of Manchar over an alleged unauthorised electricity supply from the light metre of another shop. In this case, Arjun Waikar demanded a bribe from the complainant, claiming a reduction in the fine amount by speaking with senior officials in the Mahavitaran office.

After that, the complainant filed a complaint against Waikar on December 13 at the Anti-Corruption Department, Pune. Subsequently, the ACB team went through all the details of the complaint and found Waikar substantially guilty for demanding a bribe for personal gains after detailed verification.

Therefore, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Waikar at Manchar Police Station based on the complaint given by the plaintiff, and the accused was subsequently detained by ACB yesterday.

The operation was carried out by a team of Police Deputy Superintendent Nitin Jadhav, Police Inspector Rupesh Jadhav, Police Constable Pravin Taware, Female Police Constable Komal Shete, and Driver Police Constable Mali, under the guidance of Pune Zone Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe and Additional Superintendent of Police Sheetal Janve.
