Pune: Ring Road project picks speed, 8,000 farmers sign consent form for land acquisition

Pune Ring Road

Pune: The land acquisition for the Ring Road project being done by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has picked speed. As many as 125 acres of land has been acquired, for which Rs 250 crores has been distributed. Meanwhile, the District Collectorate has received Rs 1,000 crore for the purpose. This will expedite land acquisition, said Dr Rajesh Deshmukh.

The MSRDC is acquiring land for the Ring Road of 172 km length and 110 m width. It will solve traffic issues in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The District Administration started issuing notices to the affected in the western part from July 5. The land holders are given 25 pc more compensation than the market rate after taking their consent. The deadline for presenting the consent option and signing of agreement was July 31. However, it has now been extended to August 21.

The State Government has provided Rs 1,000 crore for the purpose. As many as 8,030 account holders out of 16,940 from 35 villages have signed the consent form related to the land acquisition. Out of these, 275 account holder have been given Rs 250 crore as compensation for 125 acres of land. The Ring Road is divided in two parts: the eastern and the western.

In the eastern part, there are 11 Maval, 12 Khed, 15 Haveli, 5 Purandar and 3 Bhor villages, while in the western part, there are 5 Bhor, 11 Haveli, 15 Mulshi and 6 Maval villages. The project will require 695 hectares of land. The valuation of land has already been done. A land acquisition meeting will take place in Khed taluka on August 11. This was revealed by District Collector Dr Deshmukh.

Farmers are responding to the consent option. They are taking time to collect documents related to land. If the consent forms and agreements are not received till August 21, it will be assumed that the land holders have not given their consent to the process. The officials concerned will announce the verdict without the 25 pc more compensation. I appeal to farmers to sign the consent form.
