Pune: In a startling revelation, a regimental clerk employed at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla stands accused of embezzling a staggering sum of Rs 11 lakh. The alleged financial fraud pertains to the non-deposit of shop rents from Gol Market into the regimental fund during the period spanning 2013 to 2019. The case has prompted the registration of a formal complaint against the accused clerk, Hemant Rawal, under sections 420 and 406 of the Indian Penal Code.
Senior Account Officer J. Anjan Kumar brought the matter to light by filing a complaint at the Uttamnagar Police Station on Thursday (28th). Kumar outlined in the complaint that Rawal, during his tenure as a regimental clerk, failed to transfer the collected shop rents to the regimental fund. Instead, Rawal is alleged to have diverted the funds, amounting to a staggering 11 lakh and 578 thousand rupees, for personal gain.
The police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter to ascertain the extent of the financial discrepancies. Further developments in the investigation will be closely monitored to bring clarity to this disconcerting situation.
