Pune: A shocking incident involving abusing a woman based on her caste and making derogatory comments based on her social background took place in the Khadki area. In this case, a complaint of atrocity was lodged against a couple at Khadki police station.
This disturbing incident took place on December 24 around 4 p.m. in the Type 2 Range Hill area. Police informed that the victim and the main accused, Sanjay Sharma (35), reside in front of each other’s houses in Khadki. According to the complaint, the accused had been stalking the woman for the last four to five months and was gesticulating lewd gestures while looking at her.
Yesterday, in the afternoon, when the plaintiff was cleaning the passage in front of her house, the accused recorded her footage on his mobile. When the plaintiff confronted the accused about this, the accused and her wife audaciously hurled derogatory remarks at her based on her caste. Further, the accused also mistreated her.
After this, the woman registered a complaint at Khadki Police Station, based on which police booked Sanjay Sharma and his wife under IPC 354(d), 509, and 504, along with the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Aarti Bansode, has detained the accused and is conducting further investigation into it.
