Important Information on Fares, Penalties, and Discounts for Pune Metro Riders

The Pune Metro has announced significant updates regarding metro tickets, aiming to streamline the ticketing process and enhance the commuting experience for passengers. Through its X platform, the Pune Metro has provided clarity on various aspects of ticketing, ensuring that passengers are well-informed and compliant with the rules.

Key Updates:

  1. Time Limit for Ticket Usage: Passengers must complete their journey within 90 minutes from the time of ticket purchase to reaching their destination. Failure to adhere to this time limit will result in a penalty ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 50 per hour.
  2. Penalty for Traveling Without a Ticket: Traveling without a valid ticket will incur a fine of Rs 85. Additionally, passengers found exiting or entering fraudulently at AFC gates will also face an Rs 85 fine.
  3. Discounts for E-Ticket and Pune Card Holders: Holders of E-Tickets and Pune Cards are eligible for discounts. They can enjoy a 10% discount on weekdays and a more substantial 30% discount on weekends, making metro travel more affordable and accessible for regular commuters.
  4. Student Discounts: Students up to the graduation level can avail themselves of a 30% discount on metro tickets by presenting a valid student ID or bonafide card. This initiative aims to support students in their daily commutes and encourage the use of public transportation.

These updates come as part of Pune Metro’s efforts to enhance the efficiency and convenience of metro travel for passengers. By implementing clear guidelines on ticketing and offering discounts to certain groups, the Pune Metro aims to incentivize more people to choose metro as their preferred mode of transportation, thereby reducing congestion on roads and promoting sustainable urban mobility.
