Pune: Mosquito breeding sites have become a major concern in many areas, as they contribute to the spread of diseases like dengue and malaria. One such area facing this issue is the premises of the Hinjewadi police station, where confiscated vehicles are lying idle, providing a conducive environment for mosquitoes to breed.
The Hinjewadi Police have recently taken a step to address the issue of mosquito breeding sites in their premises. The station has been burdened with confiscated vehicles lying idle, despite repeated reminders to their owners to claim them. As the monsoon sets in, these vehicles become covered in grass, creating an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes and contributing to the spread of diseases like dengue and malaria.
In response to the growing concern about public health, the Hinjewadi police department has decided to organize an open bid to sell off these unattended vehicles. A total of 156 confiscated automobiles will be put up for sale in the bid, aimed at not only clearing the premises but also breaking the chain of mosquito breeding.
Dr. Vivek Mugalikar, the Senior Police Inspector of Hinjewadi Police Station, expressed their efforts to reach out to the owners multiple times through reminders, messages, and calls. However, the lack of response from the owners has compelled the police to take this course of action.
The open bid presents an opportunity for interested buyers to acquire the confiscated vehicles while also serving the greater purpose of eliminating potential mosquito breeding sites.
