Pune District Collector Ensures Voter Roll Integrity, Addresses Technical Errors

Dr. Suhas Diwase Clarifies Misconceptions, Promises Swift Correction of Voter List Issues

In an effort to maintain the integrity of the electoral process, Pune District Collector and District Election Officer Dr. Suhas Diwase has reassured citizens that there are no inherent defects in the electoral roll. However, he has acknowledged the presence of technical errors in certain areas and assured immediate rectification.

Amidst concerns raised regarding the accuracy of the voter list, Dr. Diwase emphasized the administration’s dedication to resolving any discrepancies promptly. He urged citizens to communicate directly with the administration regarding any concerns and cautioned against the dissemination of misinformation.

The recent attention to the voter list’s accuracy stemmed from complaints regarding the presence of Gujarati names within the Bhor Assembly Constituency. Following a complaint lodged by Santosh Mohol from Mhalunge, the administration swiftly addressed the issue and informed Mohol of the corrective actions taken.

Dr. Diwase explained that individuals listed in one electoral area could use Form No. 8 to migrate to another area, a process regulated by Election Commission guidelines. With significant migration observed in areas like Hinjawadi, Sus, and Mhalunge, due to employment and business opportunities, the administration has processed migration applications accordingly.

Addressing specific cases, Dr. Diwase clarified instances where technical errors led to inaccuracies in the voter list. He assured that corrective measures were promptly taken, including the removal of names from the list when necessary.

The district election administration remains committed to conducting fair and transparent elections. Dr. Diwase reiterated the importance of citizens’ cooperation in ensuring a clean and accurate voter list, urging them to refrain from spreading unfounded rumours.
