Mumbai: NCP National President and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today took important decisions on Tuesday at the Maharashtra Rehabilitation Authority and State Rehabilitation and Resettlement Coordination Committee meeting. Pawar said that additional funds required for their development along with 18 civic facilities would be provided to these resettled villages will be given to the Rural Development Department (RRD).

The Rural Development Department should immediately take over the rehabilitated villages established for the project victims of various projects which are important for the development of the state. Maharashtra State Rehabilitation Authority and State Rehabilitation and Resettlement Control Committee Chairman and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today took an important decision that additional funds required for their development along with 18 civic facilities provided to these resettled villages will be given to the Rural Development Department.

The decision has paved the way for the development of many resettled villages in the state and the long pending issues have been resolved. At the same time, an important decision was taken today to give the status of project victims to the affected people of Wadas, settlements, and villages, which were completely buried due to landslides.

A meeting of the Maharashtra Rehabilitation Authority and State Rehabilitation and Resettlement Control Committee was organized under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar at Sahyadri State Guest House.

Many projects have had a great contribution to the state’s development. Village settlements have been set up in various places across the state to rehabilitate project-affected people (PAP). However, since many resettled villages have not been transferred to RRD as yet, they face several difficulties in providing funds for development. As a result, their development is stalled. Considering this, RRD should take over the state villages ‘as it is’. Pawar decided to provide additional funds for development works along with 18 civic facilities to these villages.

It was decided in the meeting that the vacant plots in the resettled villages without residence for many years should be given to PAP, then to PAP in the said district, and if there are any unoccupied villages left, they should be given to the other PAP in the state according to this priority order, or if no one is willing to take these plots, then they should be auctioned as stated in the rules.

Special funds should be made available from the Koyna Earthquake Rehabilitation Fund for the villages under the Shivandeshwar Project affected by the hydropower projects in Gokul, Rasati, and Helwak under the Koyna Dam Project. In the Tarli project of Satara district, the decision to increase the subsistence allowance from Rs 400 per month to Rs 3,000 per family for one year, and to rehabilitate 29 families in Savarghar by giving money as a special case of the same project was approved.

It was decided to submit a proposal in the cabinet meeting for the rehabilitation of the project victims of Sukli (Dharur taluka) of the Gunwanti Irrigation Project in Beed district as well as the rehabilitation of the eligible project-affected families in the villages of Kurli and Ghamapur (Umarkhed taluka) of the Amdapur Laghu Irrigation Project in Yavatmal district.

Among others, Members of the Authority and Revenue Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, Co-Chairman of the Authority and Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Anil Patil, Water Conservation Minister Sanjay Rathod, Upper Chief Secretary of Revenue Department Rajesh Kumar, Upper Chief Secretary of Water Resources Department Deepak Kapoor, Upper Chief Secretary of Finance Department O. P. Gupta, Principal Secretary of Revenue and Forest Department B. Venugopal Reddy, Principal Secretary, Relief and Rehabilitation Department. Dr Sonia Sethi, Law and Justice Department, Joint Secretary Bushra Sayyed, and Roads Secretary Sanjay Dashpute were present.
